If you live in Volusia County, the state of emergency now covers you. Gov. Ron DeSantis added Seminole, Volusia and Lake counties to his order, and the declaration lets counties get emergency funding from the state's emergency preparedness and response fund.

WESH says the order cites National Weather Service forecasts that the St. Johns River is expected to flood, possibly for several weeks. WKMG says the order also activates the Florida National Guard and the Florida State Guard. NOAA forecasts the river near Sanford reaching minor flood stage by Friday.

  • Self-fill sandbags in Seminole County: Old Geneva fire station, Boombah lot, Central Winds Park
  • Seminole County closed: Black Bear, Cameron Wight, Mullet Lake, Econ Canoe Launch
  • Water would surround many homes at the forecast crest

The Wrap

Wiley Conner needed 31 yards in his last high school football game to become Matanzas' all-time leading rusher, and he got there on his third carry. He finished with 181 yards in the Pirates' 28-7 win at Palm Bay on Oct. 30, setting a new school record of 2,304 career rushing yards. Talk about wasting no time.
